    Norfolk Terrier Puppies

The Norfolk terrier is a British dog breed. It gained recognition as an independent dog breed in 1960. It is a small sized dog breed distinguishable mainly by its dropping ears. It makes up the group of the smallest working terriers.

    Description

The coat of the San Diego Norfolk terrier puppies has wired hair. The coat color can be of all shades of wheaten, red, tan, black or grizzle. The dog breed is active and a very compact dog that is free moving. It has great substance and bone. This means it has a good spring of ribs and bone which match its body. It is considered to be an agile ratter dog.

The Norfolk terrier puppies San Diego are proportioned moderately. They have more reach, drive and strong rear angulations. They cover more ground than their cousins in the Norwich family. They have a great side gait. Their body is longer than it is tall.

Even so, this breed is strong and sturdy in spite of it being a small dog. It has a rounded head and has a good amount of space between its ears. The muzzle is wedged and strong and has a defined stop. The eyes are small, oval shaped and dark. The legs are straight. The tail is medium sized and normally set high and level to the dog’s top-line. The tail is often docked by half.

    Temperament

The Norfolk terrier puppies San Diego are the smallest of working dogs. They are generally courageous, active, and affectionate and have a balanced temper with no quarrelsomeness or nervousness. Considering it is an intelligent dog, it is easy to train though it needs consistent rules to follow else it will develop undesirable behaviors.

The dog has a ratting instinct which enables it to enjoy any game of fetch. However, it is important to note that failure to exercise him sufficiently will cause him to develop undesirable behaviors such as unnecessary barking and digging. Other than that, the breed is considered to be good with other pets including cats and dogs but should never be trusted with the likes of pet rats, rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters. The Norfolk terrier puppy San Diego is also prone to the small dog syndrome where it believes itself to be the pack leader.  If left alone for long, it will suffer separation anxieties. They make it a bit hard to housebreak.

    Health

The Norfolk terrier puppy San Diego are generally healthy. However, some lines are prone to such issues as genetic eye diseases and back problems.

    Care

The breed will be fine in an apartment if exercised sufficiently. They need daily long walks and if possible jogging for short distances. Their coat is shaggy and waterproof and easy to groom. They need daily brushing and combing. Little clipping is needed. The dog is a light shedder and needs extra care at this time. Bathing should be done when absolutely necessary.
